Hilltop

This ongoing project began as a request to assist with a falling retaining wall—the owner’s priority was saving two large adjacent oak trees from damage. The compromised wall was carefully removed to protect the tree roots, a new stone wall was designed to allow for a more gradual slope, and stairs were integrated to allow safe passage to the grade above. Remains of the original expansive wall were preserved, and the height was lowered to reveal the landscape beyond. Additionally, a Goshen stone terrace was redesigned with a bluestone court and landings in keeping with the home’s renovations. New plantings are scheduled for the spring.
